I sit by the river at 22:13
with the moon 3/5 full
and a swan graphically anchored
at my feet; in my ears
multiple Portuguese dialects
enter. water taxi towards west
a scooter behind me towards east

if I'm witnessing a design unfolding
then it's a little too scripted
for my taste. we all care about
each other in this century, it seems.
yet still eat cows, and chicken, and fish.

tap-tap; pat-pat - the white dog
searches for a convenient spot
drags its owner along; it's so hot...
and all the boats already passed
while lingering in a deeper indigo.
